The images all capture the eerie beauty of technical artifacts becoming one with their environment.
By using the infra-red spectrum, the artifacts are exposed yet at the same time blended into the vast environment, creating intense and aesthetic images.
«Phases» unites images from two earlier exhibitions featuring Sugiyama’s work; “Crash”, first exhibited in Kyoto, and new images never shown before.
Sugiyama is an award-winning photographer based in Kyoto and California.

About the Artist - Yukiko Sugiyama

Yukiko Sugiyama was born in 1985 in Kyoto, Japan. She was honored with an MFA from Sculpture Course in Fine Art (Kishio Suga Seminar) in Kanazawa College of Art in 2011. She is based in Los Angeles and Kyoto, where she works on her photographic and installation art pieces.
