Self-propelled and off-course.

Thankfully, a missile looks quite out of place in our daily western life. For many others, this is not the case and we should count ourselves lucky not to have to face missiles on an ordinary basis.

Yet, we are inundated by images of missiles in the news, video games and movies. Indeed, we may even go as far as attesting a certain aesthetic appeal or even phallic symbolism to these cold and inanimate objects engineered to perfection.

This series of images merges the technical beauty of a missile with the aesthetic into unexpected yet mundane environments.

感謝すべきことにミサイルは、西側の私達の日々の生活とかなりそぐわない様に見えます。

しかしながら、他の多くの人々にとってそれは同じ状況ではなく、私達は通常ミサイルに直面する必要がない事を、幸運であると意識すべきです。

私達はニュースやテレビゲーム、映画に映るミサイルの様相に圧倒されます。確かに私達は、紛れもなく存在するひとつの美意識的なアピールか、或いはこれらの完璧なまでに造られた冷たくて無機質な物体の男根象徴でさえもを猛烈に実証してもいるのかもしれません。

この写真のシリーズは、ミサイルの技術的な美しさと美学を融合させることで、予想外でありながら同時に日常的な状況を作り出しています。  

the Concept

“Miss”Iles is a collaborative effort between three artists represented by Galerie Kern in 2019.

The triad of artists spans between Switzerland, Japan and the United States and has been especially commissioned by Galerie Kern.

Each artist has been invited to interpret the concept of missiles in every day situations using their core competencies — either technicality and/or aesthetics.

"Miss"iles はギャラリエカーンが2019年が紹介する3人のアーティストによるコラボレーション展示です。

3人のコラボレーションアーティストはスイス、日本とアメリカを股にかける、ギャラリエカーンからの特別な委託を受けたアーティスト達です。

各アーティストは、それぞれ技術的もしくは美学的な観点のいずれかのコアとなるアビリティを用いて、｢毎日｣の状況の中でミサイルの概念を解釈し、表現するように招待されています。
